Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 6, 2026 · Last updated: August 6, 2026

Pixeepals (“we”, “us”) builds a pixel desktop companion and a Chrome extension that alerts you when AI chat tools finish generating. This policy explains what we collect on our website and in our Chrome extension, and what we do not collect.

Short version We do not read or store your AI prompts or chat content. The extension runs detection locally in your browser. If you join our waitlist, we only collect the email you submit (and optional preferences you choose).

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers:

2. Website & waitlist

When you join our waitlist or contact us, we may collect:

We use this information only to communicate about Pixeepals and improve our product. We do not sell your email to third parties.

Waitlist data is stored by our email/form provider (e.g. Formspree, MailerLite, or a database service such as Supabase). Those providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.

3. Chrome extension — what we collect

The extension stores the following locally in your browser using Chrome’s built-in storage APIs:

This data stays on your device unless you uninstall the extension or clear extension data. We do not receive it on our servers in the current version.

4. Chrome extension — what we do not collect

5. How AI “done” detection works

On supported AI sites (currently ChatGPT and Claude), a small script observes page signals — such as whether the interface appears to still be generating — to know when a response has finished. This happens entirely in your browser. We do not send page content to Pixeepals servers.

The pet overlay on other websites only draws your pal; it does not read page content and makes no network requests for detection.

6. Extension permissions

We request only what the product needs:

7. Notifications

If you enable notifications, Chrome may show a system notification when generation completes. Notification text is generic (e.g. that your AI finished). You can turn this off anytime in extension settings.

8. Future features

If we add paid plans, accounts, cloud sync, or BYOK (bring your own API key), we will update this policy before those features launch. API keys, if offered, will be stored with industry-standard encryption and will not be used to train models.

9. Children

Pixeepals is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Data retention & your rights

Waitlist: you may unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in our messages, or email us to delete your waitlist entry.

Extension: uninstall the extension or clear its data in chrome://extensions to remove locally stored settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

11. Security

We use reputable hosting and form providers and follow reasonable practices to protect waitlist data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

12. International users

If you are outside your home country, your waitlist data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate (e.g. the United States or European Union, depending on the vendor).

13. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the website or extension after changes means you accept the updated policy.
